Hoy, Mañana, Siempre

Resourcefulness at work.

I loved how many people wanted their photo taken... a photographer´s dream.

Universidad de La Habana.

The Alma Mater.

Find the second ponytail...

The birds did a lovely job decorating this wall.

Jagüey Blanco tree that attaches itself to another tree until it dies.

Strange architecture.

Cigarettes, cookies, cigars, condoms, Cuban flag.

The oddly sparse Plaza de la Revolución.

Camilo Cienfuegos, on the Ministry of Information and Communications building, designed by Enrique Ávila.

Ernesto ¨Che¨ Guevara, once again, on the Ministry of the Interior building.

Odd place for a phone.

Infinitely present José Marti.

Milena and Milena.

¨May the enemies of a people where every woman is a soldier of the Patriarchy tremble!¨ ...A brick almost landed on me as I walked past this school building.

¡Hola!

Hey there!

Contrast of Soviet and colonial styles.

¿Verdad?

Little goats grazing in a school yard.

Callejón de Hamel, a brightly painted alleyway that hosts a rumba show every Sunday at noon. (Look out for those photos in a few posts...)

¨The fish doesn´t know that the water exists¨.

¨We walk to the beat of re-energy¨.

New friends from the panadería.

Lord, time for a pedicure.

More bread.

Gotta say, I don´t think monkeys are too common in La Habana..

Cuba´s heroes on la moneda nacional.

Doing a terrible job of making tostones. Later I learned not to push so hard.

Little Oswaldito!

Mireni watching ¨Tras la Huella¨, a crime show about behind-the-scenes Havana.

  1. These are so great, Alex! I love the strange telephone, the calico cat (who, by the way, is greeting you-- I can tell by the curve of its tail), the "rooster" dancers, the little baby in the cab... I can go on and on! Every picture tells a story with the dynamics of its color and detail. Great job!
