Leaving for a trip can be difficult, especially if that trip is for over six months and largely unplanned. That being said, my parents were nothing but supportive during my two months at home, where I prepared for my journey through Mexico, Cuba and South America. There were some who were less enthused, concerned about the dangers of me, as a solo female traveler, crossing a continent that's endured much unrest and even more stigmas from a U.S. perspective. Others questioned the legitimacy of such a journey-- if it's not vacation, and it's not work, what's the point? Well, what can I say? I have never felt such a calling: one that begins in my gut, strengthens my spine and opens my mind. And so, this blog will provide a window into my experiences for those who cannot join me but nevertheless remain ever-present in my heart and mis pensamientos.
Saying goodbye to my old man, Foxy.
